Mohamallika Pillai, better known as Mallika Sukumaran, is an Indian actress working in the Malayalam film and television industries. She also appeared in a few Tamil films. She is the wife of actor Sukumaran and the mother of actors Indrajith Sukumaran and Prithviraj Sukumaran, as well as the director. She made her film acting debut with the Malayalam movie Karthika in 1968. She won the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress for her role in the Malayalam movie Swapnadanam (1976).

She debuted in a TV serial with the Malayalam serial Peythozhiyathe in 2001 on Surya TV. She won the Second Best Actress Award in the Kaveri Film Critics Television Awards (2004) for her role in the serial American Dreams (2002) on Asianet. She debuted in Tamil with the movie Vaazhthugal in 2008, starring Madhavan and Bhavana. Mallika Sukumaran is well known for her comedic roles as well as her character roles. She runs a restaurant in Doha.

She was born on 04 November 1954 (age 71 years) to Kainikkara Madhavan Pillai and Shobha in Haripad, Alappuzha, Kerala, India. Her father was a Gandhian and political activist, and was the younger brother of Kainikkara Padmanabha Pillai and Kainikkara Kumara Pillai. She has an elder brother, M. Velayudhan Pillai, and two elder sisters, Premachandrika and Ragalathika. She studied at the Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill. She completed her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram.

Mallika Sukumaran married actor Jagathy Sreekumar in 1974, and the couple legally separated in 1976. On 17 October 1978, she married Malayalam actor Sukumaran. Her sons, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Indrajith Sukumaran, are leading actors. Sukumaran died due to a massive heart attack on 16 June 1997. Actress and television anchor Poornima Indrajith is her daughter-in-law.
