R Madhavan

Ranganathan Madhavan, also known as R. Madhavan, is an Indian film producer, director, screenwriter, and actor who mainly appears in the Hindi and Tamil film and television industries, and a few English, Kannada, and Malayalam films. He made his acting debut with the Hindi TV serial Yule Love Story in 1993. His film debut was with the Hindi movie Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin in 1996. R Madhavan debuted in English with the movie Inferno in 1997 and in Kannada with the movie Shanti Shanti Shanti in 1998.

Alai Payuthey (2000) was his Tamil movie debut. R Madhavan is well known for his Tamil movies Minnale (2001), Dumm Dumm Dumm (2001), Run (2002), Kannathil Muthamittal (2002), Anbe Sivam (2003), Nala Damayanthi (2003), Jay Jay (2003), Aayutha Ezhuthu (2004), Thambi (2006), and Rendu (2006). He debuted in Malayalam with the movie Made In USA in 2004. In addition to his acting career, R Madhavan has worked as a writer on his films, hosted television programs, and has been a prominent celebrity endorser for brands and products.

He was born on 01 June 1970 (age 55 years) to a Tamil Brahmin family in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. His father, Ranganathan, was a management executive at Tata Steel, and his mother, Saroja, was a manager at the Bank of India. His younger sister, Devika, is a software engineer. He studied at D.B.M.S. English School, Jamshedpur. He did his BSc in Electronics from Rajaram College, Kolhapur. He married Sarita Birje in 1999, and they have a son, Vedaant Madhavan, who is an Indian freestyle swimmer.
