Ashwini Shetty, also known as Shilpa Shetty (Shilpa Shetty Kundra), is an Indian model and actress who mainly works in the Hindi film industry. She also appeared in a few Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films. She made her film acting debut with the Hindi movie Baazigar in 1993, starring Shah Rukh Khan. She debuted in Tamil with the movie Mr. Romeo in 1996. She debuted in Telugu with the movie Sahasa Veerudu Sagara Kanya in 1996 and in Kannada with the movie Preethsod Thappa in 1998.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra joined the fifth series of the UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother, ultimately winning the series. Her win was followed by a spot hosting the second season of the Indian version of the show, Bigg Boss, in 2008. Shilpa Shetty Kundra is notable in movies such as Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Jaanwar (1999), Dhadkan (2000), Indian (2001), Rishtey (2002), Phir Milenge (2004), Dus (2005), Life in a… Metro (2007), Apne (2007), Dostana (2008), Hungama 2 (2021), Nikamma (2022), and Sukhee (2023). She also appeared in the TV series Indian Police Force (2024), starring Sidharth Malhotra.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra has worked with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) since 2006 as part of an advertising campaign against the use of wild animals in circuses. She is also a fitness enthusiast, and she launched her own Yoga DVD in 2015. She was awarded the Champions of Change Award for her work on the Swachh Bharat Mission cleanliness campaign. From 2009 to 2015, Shilpa Shetty Kundra was a co-owner of the Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals.

She was born on 08 June 1975 (age 50 years) into a Tulu-speaking Bunt family to Surendra Shetty and Sunanda Shetty in Mangaluru, Karnataka, India. Her parents were manufacturers of tamper-proof water caps for the pharmaceutical industry. She has a younger sister, Shamita Shetty, who is also an actress. She studied at St Anthony’s Girls’ High School, Chembur, Mumbai. She graduated from Podar College in Matunga, Mumbai. She married Raj Kundra. The couple has a son, Viaan Raj Kundra, who was born on 21 May 2012. The couple had a second child, a girl, Samisha Shetty, who was born on 15 February 2020 via surrogacy.
