Shah Rukh Khan (ShahRukh Khan), popularly known by the initials SRK, is an Indian actor and producer who works in the Hindi film and television industry. He is also called the Baadshah of Bollywood and King Khan. He began his career with appearances in several television series in the late 1980s. He made his film acting debut with the Hindi movie Deewana in 1992.
Shah Rukh Khan has appeared in more than 100 films and earned numerous accolades, including a National Film Award and 15 Filmfare Awards. He has been awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India, as well as the Order of Arts and Letters and the Legion of Honour by the Government of France. He was initially recognised for playing villainous roles in the films Baazigar (1993) and Darr (1993).
Shah Rukh Khan established himself by starring in a series of top-grossing romantic films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Veer-Zaara (2004), and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006). As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the motion picture production company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries and is the co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders and the Caribbean Premier League team Trinbago Knight Riders.
Shah Rukh Khan was born on 02 November 1965 (age 60 years) to Meer Taj Mohammed Khan and Lateef Fatima Khan in New Delhi , India . His father, Meer Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist from Peshawar who campaigned alongside the Khudai Khidmatgar, a nonviolent resistance movement led by Abdul Ghaffar Khan that sought a united and independent India, and his mother, Lateef Fatima, a magistrate, was the daughter of a senior government engineer. Shah Rukh Khan has a sister, Shehnaz Lalarukh Khan.
He studied at Hansraj College, Delhi, and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He completed his bachelor’s degree in economics from Hansraj College, Delhi, and he did his master’s degree in mass communication from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Shah Rukh Khan married Gauri Chibber, a Punjabi Hindu, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991. They have a son, Aryan, born in 1997, and a daughter, Suhana, born in 2000. In 2013, they became parents of a third child named AbRam, who was born through a surrogate mother.
