Vishal Veeru Devgan, known professionally as Ajay Devgn, is an Indian actor, director, and producer mainly in Hindi films and a few Telugu films. He made his film acting debut with the Hindi movie Phool Aur Kaante in 1991. Then he appeared in Vijaypath (1994), Dilwale (1994), Jaan (1996), Ishq (1997), Major Saab (1998), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998), Kachche Dhaage (1999), and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Zakhm (1998). He owns a production company, Ajay Devgn FFilms, which was established in 1999. He has frequently collaborated with filmmaker Rohit Shetty.
He is well known for his roles in Company (2002), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), Gangaajal (2003), Khakee (2004), Raincoat (2004), Omkara (2006), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Son of Sardaar (2012), Singham Returns (2014), Drishyam (2015), Golmaal Again (2017), Raid (2018), Total Dhamaal (2019), Tanhaji (2020), Drishyam 2 (2022) and Singham Again (2024). In 2016, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth-highest civilian honour. He debuted in Telugu with the movie RRR in 2022.
He was born on 02 April 1969 (age 57 years)in New Delhi , Delhi , India , to former stunt choreographer and action-film director Veeru Devgan and film producer Veena Devgan. He has a sister, Neelam Devgan. He did his schooling at Silver Beach High School, Juhu. He graduated from Mithibai College, Mumbai, Maharashtra. On 24 February 1999, he married actress Kajol. The couple has a daughter, Nysa, born on 20 April 2003, and a son, Yug, born on 13 September 2010.
