Sharib Hashmi is an Indian actor, writer, producer, and director who works in the Hindi film and television industry. He is well known for the role of J. K. Talpade in the Amazon Prime Video TV series The Family Man (2019-2025), for which he won the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He made his film acting debut with the English movie Slumdog Millionaire (2008). He made his lead role debut with the Hindi movie Filmistaan (2012). He played a supporting role in the Hindi movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Later, Sharib Hashmi worked on films such as Badmashiyaan (2015), Phullu Phullu (2017), Vodka Diaries (2018), Batti GUI Meter Chalu (2018), Nakkash (2019), Ujda Chaman (2019), Darbaan (2020), Vikram Vedha (2022), Fighter (2024), Malhar (2024), Sangee (2025), The Diplomat (2025), and Murderbaad (2025). He also appeared in the TV series Asur (2020), A Viral Wedding (2020), The Great Indian Murder (2022), 36 Days (2024), and Khoj – Parchaiyo Ke Uss Paar (2024).
He was born on 25 January 1976 (age 50 years) in Malad, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father, Z. A. Johar, was a film journalist. He did his schooling at St.John’s Model English High School, Mumbai. He graduated from Bhavan’s College, Mumbai. He married Nasreen Hashmi on 27 December 2003. The couple has 2 children, Shayaan and Inaaya.
