Anurag Singh Kashyap, also known as Anurag Kashyap, is an Indian director and actor who mainly works in the Hindi entertainment industry. He also appears in the Tamil and Malayalam movies. He won four Filmfare Awards. He got his major break as a co-writer in Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama Satya (1998). His directorial debut was with the movie Paanch (2003), which never had a theatrical release due to censorship issues. He made his acting debut with the Hindi movie Gang in 2000. He debuted in Tamil with the movie Imaikkaa Nodigal in 2018. He debuted in Malayalam with the movie Rifle Club in 2024.
He was born on 10 September 1972 (age 53 years) in Gorakhpur , Uttar Pradesh , India . His father, Sri Prakash Singh, is a retired Chief Engineer. Directors Abhinav Kashyap and Anubhuti Kashyap are Anurag Kashyap’s siblings. He did his schooling at Hillgrange Preparatory School, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and The Scindia School, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Hansraj College, Delhi. Anurag Kashyap married film editor Aarti Bajaj. They have a daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap. They divorced in 2009. He later married actress Kalki Koechlin. In May 2015, they were divorced.
