Sonakshi Sinha is an Indian actress who works in the Hindi and Tamil film industry. She made her acting debut with the Hindi movie Dabangg in 2010, co-starring Salman Khan. She debuted her Tamil movie in 2014 with the movie Lingaa, co-starring Rajinikanth. She played lead roles in several movies, including Rowdy Rathore (2012), Son of Sardaar (2012), Dabangg 2 (2012), and Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014). The way she portrayed the role of a troubled woman afflicted with tuberculosis in the period drama Lootera (2013) won appreciation from critics and led to her being nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actress. In 2023, she starred in the thriller series Dahaad.

She was born on 02 June 1987 (age 38 years) to film actors Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha in Patna, Bihar, India, and grew up in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has twin brothers, Luv Sinha is an actor, and Kush Sinha is a film director. She studied at Arya Vidya Mandir, Mumbai, Maharashtra. She graduated in fashion design from Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai, Maharashtra. She married actor Zaheer Iqbal on 23 June 2024.
