Rangaraj Subbiah, known professionally as Sathyaraj, is an Indian actor and film producer who appears predominantly in Tamil films. He also appears in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada films. He made his film acting debut with the Tamil movie Sattam En Kaiyil in 1978, starring Kamal Haasan. He debuted in Telugu with the movie Iddaru Kodukulu in 1981. He has acted in more than 250 films. He has won three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards South. He debuted in Kannada with the movie Shabash Vikram in 1985.

He achieved success by performing in the lead roles in Vedham Pudhithu (1987), Nadigan (1990), Amaidhipadai (1994), Periyar (2007), and Onbadhu Roobai Nottu (2007). He was the director of the film Villadhi Villain (1995), starring himself in three different roles. He debuted in Malayalam with the movie Aagathan in 2010, starring Dileep. He was praised for his supporting roles in Nanban (2012), Raja Rani (2013), Baahubali (2015), Baahubali 2 (2017), and Kanaa (2018). He debuted in Hindi with the movie Chennai Express in 2013. He has also served as a brand ambassador for Pothys, Susi Emu farms, and Kumaran jewellery Shop. He also appeared in the TV series Meet Cute (2022), Mansion 24 (2023), and My Perfect Husband (2024).

He was born on 03 October 1954 (age 71 years) to Subbaiah, a doctor, and Nathambal in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his primary school education in St Mary’s Convent School, Coimbatore, and later studied for the tenth standard at Suburban High School, Ramnagar, Coimbatore. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Botany from Government Arts College, Coimbatore. He married Maheshwari in 1979. They have a son, Sibi Sathyaraj, who is an actor, and a daughter, Divya Sathyaraj, who is a nutritionist.
