Nagarjuna Akkineni

Akkineni Nagarjuna Rao, also known as Nagarjuna Akkineni, is an Indian actor and producer who works in the Telugu film industry. He also works in Tamil and Hindi films. He is the son of veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. In 1961, he made his acting debut as a child artist with the Telugu movie Velugu Needalu and in Tamil with the movie Thooya Ullam. He made his debut as a lead actor in the Telugu movie Vikram in 1986, co-starring Shobana. He debuted in Hindi with the movie Shiva in 1990.

Nagarjuna Akkineni has starred in more than 90 movies and won two National Film Awards for Annamayya (1997) and Ninne Pelladata (1996). In addition, he has three Filmfare Awards South and ten Nandi Awards. He establishing himself as an action star with works such as Aakhari Poratam (1988), Vicky Daada (1989), Siva (1989), Neti Siddhartha (1990), Chaitanya (1991), Nirnayam (1991), Antham (1992), Killer (1992), Khuda Gawah (1992), Rakshana (1993), Hello Brother (1994), Govinda Govinda (1994), Criminal (1994), Ratchagan (1997), Azad (2000), Sivamani (2003), Mass (2004), Super (2005), Don (2007), and King (2008).

Nagarjuna Akkineni began making movies in 1995, running a production company in the Seychelles and serving as a co-director of Heart Animation, an Emmy Award-winning film animation company. He is a co-owner of Annapurna Studios, a production company. Additionally, he serves as president of the Hyderabad-based nonprofit Annapurna College of Film and Media.

He was born on 29 August 1959 (age 66 years) to veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Annapurna in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His family hails from Ramapuram in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. He did his schooling at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, Hyderabad, and Little Flower Junior College, Hyderabad. He completed his higher studies from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai, and Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States.

Nagarjuna Akkineni married Lakshmi Daggubati, the daughter of D. Ramanaidu, a prominent film-maker, and sister of the actor Venkatesh and producer Suresh Babu, in February 1984. They have one son, actor Naga Chaitanya, born on 23 November 1986. The couple got divorced in 1990. He then married actress Amala on 11 June 1992, and the couple has one son, actor Akhil, born on 8 April 1994.
