Akshay Hari Om Bhatia (Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia), known professionally as Akshay Kumar, is an Indian film producer and actor in the Hindi film industry. He also appears in Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu films. He made his acting debut with the Hindi movie Aaj in 1987. He debuted in a leading role with the Hindi movie Saugandh in 1991. Akshay Kumar won two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards. He debuts in Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu with the films Aadhar (2002), Bhaji in Problem (2013), 2.0 (2018), and Kannappa (2025).
He is well known for his roles in the Khiladi film series, Mohra (1994), Yeh Dillagi (1994), Jaanwar (1999), Dhadkan (2000), Hera Pheri (2000), Andaaz (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Namastey London (2007), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), Singh Is Kinng (2008), Rowdy Rathore (2012), Special 26 (2013), Holiday (2014), Baby (2015), Airlift (2016), Jolly LLB 2 (2017), Pad Man (2018), Kesari (2019), Mission Mangal (2019), Housefull 4 (2019), Good Newwz (2019), Sooryavanshi (2021), and OMG 2 (2023).
He was born on 09 September 1967 (age 58 years) to Brijmohan Bhatia, an army officer, and Aruna Bhatia in Delhi , India . He studied at Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Mumbai. He did his college studies at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mumbai, Maharashtra. He married Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, on 17 January 2001. They have a son and a daughter.
