Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood is an Indian humanitarian, philanthropist, director, and actor who has worked in the Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English, Kannada, Mandarin, and Urdu entertainment industries. He made his acting debut with the Tamil movie Kallazhagar in 1999 and debuted in Telugu with the movie Hands Up! in 2000. Shaheed-E-Azam (2002) was his Hindi debut. He debuted in Kannada with the movie Vishnuvardhana in 2011. He also appears in English, Mandarin, and Urdu language films such as Rockin’ Meera (2006), Xuanzang (2016), and Ishq Positive (2016).

He is well known for his roles in Yuva (2004), Athadu (2005), Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), Ashok (2006), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Kandireega (2011), Dookudu (2011), Shootout at Wadala (2013), R… Rajkumar (2013), Happy New Year (2014), Devi (2016), Kung Fu Yoga (2017), Simmba (2018), and Kurukshetra (2019). In September 2020, he was chosen for the ‛SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award’ by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for his humanitarian work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He was born on 30 July 1973 (age 52 years) to Shakti Sood and Saroj Sood in Moga, Punjab, India. He studied at Sacred Heart School, Moga, Punjab. He did his B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), Nagpur, Maharashtra. He married Sonali Sood, and they have two children, Ayaan and Ishant.
