Karthik Sivakumar, also known professionally as Karthi, is an Indian actor who mainly works in the Tamil film industry. He is the youngest son of veteran actor Sivakumar and the younger brother of actor Suriya. He began his career with roles in films such as an uncredited cameo role in Aayutha Ezhuthu in 2004. He made his lead role debut with the Tamil movie Paruthiveeran in 2007, co-starring Priyamani. For his debut movie, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Tamil, Tamil Nadu State Film Special Prize, and Vijay Award for Best Male Debut.

His notable movies are Aayirathil Oruvan (2010), Paiyaa (2010), Naan Mahaan Alla (2010), Madras (2014), Thozha (2016), Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017), Kaithi (2019), Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022), Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023), and Meiyazhagan (2024).

He was born on 25 May 1977 (age 49 years) to actor Sivakumar and Lakshmi in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He has an elder brother, Suriya, who is an actor, and a younger sister, Brindha, who is a singer. Film actress Jyothika is his sister-in-law. He did his schooling at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and St. Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He gained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Crescent Engineering College, Chennai. He did his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Binghamton University, New York. He married Ranjani Chinnasamy on 03 July 2011. They have two children, Umayal and Kandhan.
