She was born on 18July1982 (age 43 years) in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India, to Ashok and Madhu Chopra, both physicians in the Indian Army. She has a brother, Siddharth Chopra. She studied at La Martiniere Girls School, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh; St. Maria Goretti College, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh; Newton North High School, Newton, Massachusetts; Kennedy High School, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Army Public School, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. She did her college at Jai Hind College, Mumbai, Maharashtra. She married an American singer and actor, Nick Jonas In December 2018. In January 2022, the couple had their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.
