Jayan Cherthala is an Indian actor who works in the Malayalam television and film industry. His stage name was adopted from the village he came from, Cherthala. He made his acting debut with the Malayalam TV serial Swapnam in 2003. In 2005, he appeared in his first feature Malayalam movie, Chandrolsavam. Since then, he has performed in more than two dozen Malayalam movies and TV serials. He is the state president of Kerala Sarva Kala Sangam (KSKS) affiliated with AITUC.

He was born on 21 March 1971 (age 55 years) to teachers Raveendranathan and Sarala Bai in Cherthala, Alappuzha, Kerala, India. She has a sister who is also a teacher. He is married to Jayasree, and they have a son, Karthik Shiva.
