Arvind Swamy is an Indian entrepreneur, film director, and actor who mainly works in the Tamil film industry. He also works in a few Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam films. He made his film acting debut with the Tamil movie Thalapathi in 1991, starring Rajinikanth and Mammootty. He debuted in Malayalam with the 1992 movie Daddy. He debuted in Telugu with the movie Mounam in 1995 and in Hindi with the movie Saat Rang Ke Sapne in 1998.

Arvind Swamy also appeared in the Tamil movies Roja (1992), Bombay (1995), Minsara Kanavu (1997), Thani Oruvan (2015), Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018), Thalaivi (2023), and Meiyazhagan (2024). He made his directorial debut in the Netflix anthology series Navarasa (2021).

He was born on 18 June 1970 (age 55 years) into a Tamil Brahmin family in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, to actor Delhi Kumar. He was raised by his biological mother’s sister, Bharatanatyam dancer Vasantha, and her husband, industrialist V. D. Swamy. He did his schooling at Sishya School, Chennai, Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai, and P. S. Senior Secondary School, Chennai.

Arvind Swamy graduated from Loyola College, Madras, in 1990 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He did a Master’s degree in international business from Wake Forest University, North Carolina. He married Gayathri Ramamurthy in June 1994 and has one daughter, Adhira, born in 1996, and a son, Rudra, born in 2000. The couple divorced in 2010. He married Aparna Mukerjee in 2012.
