Shweta Basu Prasad is an Indian actress who works in Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil film and television industries. She made her acting debut with the Hindi movie Makdee in 2002 as a child artist, for which she won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. In 2008, she made her Bengali movie debut with the movie Ek Nadir Galpo and her Telugu movie debut Kotha Bangaru Lokam. Her Tamil movie debut was Raa Raa, released in 2011. She is well known for her roles in the web series Serious Men (2020), Criminal Justice (Season 3, 2022), India Lockdown (2022), and Jubilee (2023).

She was born on 11 January 1991 (age 35 years) to Anuj Prasad and Sarmishta in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India, and moved to Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has a brother, Rahul Prasad. She studied at R. N. Podar High School, Santacruz, Mumbai. She completed her Graduation in mass media and journalism from Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok, Sikkim. She married filmmaker Rohit Mittal on 13 December 2018. She announced their separation on Instagram on 10 December 2019.
