Indian Railways has tried different alternatives to allow people to avoid long queues, but none of these are as easy as booking local train tickets using a smartphone app. That is why the UTS app was introduced by Indian Railways. UTS stands for the ticketing system that is unreserved and will only operate with seats that do not need a reservation. You can’t book outstation trains with unreserved seats through the UTS app, but it does the job for local trains.
Open the UTS app on your smartphone, tap the three vertical dots icon on the top-right and tap Register. Alternatively, you may visit the UTS website and tap Sign-up. Enter your mobile number, name, password, gender, and check the box that says you accept terms and conditions. Then, tap Enter All Information. Now you’ll receive an OTP (one-time-password) via SMS. Enter the four-digit OTP and tap Submit.
